LIGHTING:
色彩离不开光线，没有光，一切都是黑的。之所以分开说光线，是为了行文方便，分别评论美的方方面面。在《英雄》里，张艺谋成功运用光线造美之处不胜枚举，最显著的是透过水和慢动作来展示光线美。在石板上铲石头棋子已经别具一格，颇有韵味了，虽有古筝伴奏，视觉上可能仍嫌枯燥。而让棋盘、棋子浸在水中，配上滴雨，就是画龙点睛了！无名与残剑的蜻蜓点水，追逐打斗，以剑撩水、击水，将无形的光切割成有形的线和面，多么优美！无名与长空的决斗，由于慢动作溅水和雨珠点点垂落，而更显精采。最美的是无名跃起，穿透水帘，挺剑直刺，长空抡银枪转水珠成圆盘，有如一面钻石盾牌；光把水照得玲珑剔透，水把光映得闪烁辉煌。那美，相信在观众心中已留下了深刻的印象，是任何文字都难以再现的。
